Hutan Menyala: Tahura Djuanda Bandung

Hutan Menyala: Tahura Djuanda is an innovative pandemic-era travel destination in the form of a forest audiovisual experience orchestrated by Sembilan Matahari (NM) and The Lodge Maribaya, in partnership with Djuanda Forest Park.

Marking a shift from NM’s signature architectural projection mappings, Hutan Menyala indicates a new heading for the Bandung-based interdisciplinary studio in its engagement of the natural environment for current and future projects. This move is a reflection on some of the key messages outlined during NM’s recent 14-year anniversary: as steps toward Bright Society, Bright Environment, Bright Economy.

Tahura Djuanda will be turned into a spectacle of light, soundscapes, and digital projections. It is a journey where entertainment and education merge into one, in an appropriate natural forestry setting.

Hutan Menyala transforms areas of Djuanda Forest Park into a walkthrough of dreamlike adventure featuring magical creatures and otherworldly inhabitants. These are the tales of Mount Sunda, Banyan Trees, Deer Clans, Long-Tailed Macaques, and legions of Fireflies and Honey Bees. Told in the form of allegory, this is a plea for the reconsideration of our priorities in this day and age, a time where there is urgent need for ecological awareness and sustainability.
